Guns in Hero's Duty can hold up to 15 rounds of ammo. Upon arriving in [community profile] cosmographia, Ralph had a full amount of 15 rounds.

Ammo will cost him a bit of money in order to purchase more, so he likely won't be buying it often.

Here's what he's used his ammo on so far:

-Starts with 15 rounds

-Picks up an AMMO Pack from the Sinner's box (15 rounds when the gun's empty)

Name: "Wreck-It" Ralph

AU/PG/CANON/OC: AU

Summary:

  • In 1982, TobiKomi made a game called 'Fix-It Felix Jr.' The characters of Fix-It Felix and Wreck-It Ralph launched the game, and TobiKomi, into popularity. Now, 30 years later, TobiKomi's made a new game called Hero's Duty. Realizing that it's releasing right around the time of 'Fix-It Felix Jr.'s' 30th anniversary, the programmers hastily work to add in a new character based on Wreck-It Ralph.
  • They didn't have much time, but they did their best to follow Wreck-It Ralph's backstory for the Easter Egg character. He once lived on a forested planet, and when he was old enough he left to become a Space Marine in order to make sure that his planet would always be safe.
  • He worked hard in order to make it into the Space Marines and after he was accepted he went on several missions.
  • Everything was going pretty good, until they received the mission to go to the unnamed planet where scientists were working on the military's Cy-Bug project.
  • The Cy-Bugs have proven to be difficult to eliminate, despite their best efforts, the Space Marines haven't made much progress in reducing their numbers.
  • So, they work on making their way up to the top of the Tower that's in the center of area in order to activate the Beacon that will attract and eliminate all Cy-Bugs in the area.
  • Every day, Ralph and the rest of the Space Marines help the players that shell out the $2 to play a round of Hero's Duty. The game can take a while to complete, there's an area outside of the Tower, 99 levels/floors inside of the Tower, and it's all topped off by a boss battle versus the Queen of the Cy-Bugs.
  • Sometimes Ralph makes it to the top of the Tower, other times, he's killed by the Cy-Bugs on the way up. His deaths aren't scripted and sometimes the players can make a difference between him living or dying.
  • After hours, Ralph is usually on patrol to make sure that any stray Cy-Bugs don't get out into the arcade. The patrol schedule is set up so that everybody has a few hours off each night and at least one full night off a week.

Even though he's based on the original 8-bit Wreck-It Ralph, this new, high-definition Ralph has different programming, due to the nature of the game he was added to. That being said, there's more similarities than differences between the two Ralphs.

Physically, if you just glanced at this Ralph, the only clear difference would be that he's wearing armor, instead of an old, comfortable shirt and faded overalls. But, a closer look would reveal that the horrors of Hero's Duty have given him a handful of gray hairs peppered about the auburn ones. His skin tone is also less healthy, often taking on a more gray appearance.

Personality-wise, he's still got the Wreck-It Ralph temper, though he's managed to keep it under control a little better. However, he's known for occasionally rampaging when the Cy-Bugs kill his friends. Sometimes smashing them with his fists is much more satisfying than shooting them. That's how he earned his nickname of "Wreck-It".

Because of his job as a Space Marine, he's a little more serious and mature than the original Ralph, though, not by much. His vocabulary is a little more expanded as well, but there's still words and concepts that he's completely unfamiliar with.

Since he's programmed to be a Space Marine and his backstory gives him the motivation of wanting to protect his planet, he's got a very large protective streak, much like how the original Ralph is protective over Vanellope. To go along with his want to protect people, he's always doing what he can to help others. He's big and clumsy, like the original, but his heart's in the right place.

Much like the original Ralph, he isn't very good at lying and will often just say the first thing that comes to mind, even if it may not make much sense. He also has close to the same sense of humor as Wreck-It Ralph. It might take him just a bit longer to start joking around with people, but once he warms up, he'll keep on teasing with somebody for quite a while.

Overall, he's a little more warm, open, and friendly than the original Ralph, however, that's because he's got a completely different set of programming and he's coded as a Good Guy, rather than a Bad one. As such, he's been treated much differently than the original was. Much like the 1982 Ralph, he doesn't like being alone. He's used to being in a group with the other Space Marines, only when he's sleeping or out exploring the arcade is he by himself.

Hero's Duty is a tough game to live and work in and it's caused Ralph a few problems. Every now and then, he tends to zone out and ends up mindlessly wandering the arcade. Fortunately, this hasn't gotten him into trouble yet, though it's caused some people to give him the friendly nickname of 'Space Cadet'. When he tries to sleep, he has near-constant nightmares.

Because of the difficult working conditions, even though his game hasn't been plugged in for long, like the original Ralph, sometimes he gets weary of his game and would like a break.

But, somebody's got to save the universe, and it's his duty.

Gem Considerations:
I feel like Obsidian/Black Obsidian is an excellent fit for this Ralph. Obsidian is known as being a protective stone, and as a Space Marine, Ralph's job and goal is to protect others. The stone also promotes strength and compassion, two things that this Ralph is known for, he uses his strength to help protect others.

But, not only does Obsidian stand for things that Ralph already does, it also helps matters that he needs some assistance with. It's good for helping stress, his job in Hero's Duty of fighting a never-ending war of the Cy-Bugs takes its toll on him, so stress is something he's very familiar with. Obsidian also helps with trauma, he's been through a lot in Hero's Duty and often has recurring nightmares of past battles. Obsidian also aids self-control, something Ralph needs a little help with, occasionally his temper gets the best of him and it usually gets him in trouble.

Obsidian is a type of cooled lava, the black sheen mirrors his armor, while its lava heritage shows that he's got the potential to explode.

Obsidian is a birth stone for the zodiac sign Scorpio. Ralph's actual birthday is unknown, however, the date I go with for Hero's Duty being plugged in, October 26, falls within the dates assigned to Scorpio.

Power considerations:
List Three Powers You Would Like Your Character To Have:

  • Enhanced Strength
  • Enhanced Toughness/Sturdiness
  • A force field or shield that can be placed around other people

Ralph usually doesn't have any powers besides his extra strength. Losing his strength will be a shock to him, however, it's not something that he relies on during most normal gameplay.

As for him gaining powers, if he regains his strength, then he'll be pretty happy. If he picked up powers relating to magical things (lightning blasts, summoning ice, etc.), that'd be a little difficult for him to get used to, but, if he could find a way to use them to protect people, he'd slowly be more okay with having them. He'd work hard and train himself to use them better.

In this AU, there are two Wreck-It Ralphs, the original and this one, who's always been a space marine in Hero's Duty. Hero's Duty is made either by Tobikomi or an offshoot of theirs and they decided to design a Space Marine based off of their Wreck-It Ralph character to celebrate the upcoming 30th anniversary of Fix-It Felix Jr. Since the game is so hectic and new, not many gamers have yet made the connection between the two Ralphs, especially since the armor makes him look so different than his 8-bit version. (Inspired by this comment on TVTropes.)

Since not much information about Hero's Duty is shown in the movie, I'm using things from the official game to supplement and give things a little extra flavor.

His ID number, 306768, is the code that the game gives you to unlock Ralph as a teammate.

In the movie, the gun Ralph carries into the Hero's Duty game closely resembles Weapon 4 from the online game. Until it has an official name, I'm calling it the Explosive Launcher. In the game, it does the most damage, however it takes 10 ammo per shot. Accuracy isn't needed as much with the Explosive Launcher, since the explosion has a small range in which it hits nearby Cy-Bugs. There's a small delay in firing time, which makes it slow but powerful, just like Ralph. (Of note, it's mentioned in this article that the Hero's Duty weapons are powered by plasma.)

In the movie, it appears to work like most of the other weapons, but for this RP, I'm using the version from the game to give things a little more personality.

Like the original Ralph, this Ralph has got something of a temper. However, he directs his anger towards the Cy-Bugs, especially if he witnesses them attacking or killing one of the other Space Marines. Sometimes this is to his detriment, he'll be so focused on getting revenge against a particular Cy-Bug that he won't notice the others coming after him.

Another thing he has in common with the first Ralph is his protective streak. It most often shows up when he sees the other Space Marines in trouble. This will also extend to civilians and the other residents of Game Central Station, it's his job to keep people safe and he takes that very seriously.

He has a higher health bar than most of the other Space Marines, which lets him take more damage. In return, he's not nearly as fast or agile as the rest of the Space Marines.

Ralph will not attack anyone unless they are directly harming him or someone else. However, if someone definitely appears to be bug-like, it's quite possible that he will attempt to destroy them.

He isn't afraid of bugs like some of the other Space Marines, instead he just despises them and will go out of his way to smash or otherwise kill them (perhaps leaving a small crater or disaster in his wake).

Like the Fix-It Felix Jr. Ralph, he originally had a forest home. However, his home is still intact. He joined the Space Marines to make sure that his peaceful planet stayed safe. He misses his home, but doesn't talk about it much. As long as he knows that nothing's happened to it, he's fine for the most part.

He's the exact same height and build as Ralph, though the armor may make him slightly taller when he's wearing it. As such, he still has most of Ralph's sheer destructive strength. Generally, he only uses it when he runs out of ammo, choosing to punch the Cy-Bugs instead of using the weak standard-issue pistol.

Like Ralph, he enjoys fruit and isn't very fond of chocolate.

Along with most of the other Space Marines, he's prone to spacing out in shock and wandering around Game Central Station aimlessly, especially after a particularly bad game day. Often he'll snap out of it on his own, but sometimes he needs a little help. He also has violent nightmares about him and the other Space Marines being horrifically killed by Cy-Bugs and the Cy-Bugs destroying his home planet.

While he has many similarities to Ralph, there's quite a few differences. He's much more serious and mature, especially because of the constant fighting in the game that he's been subjected to.

Appearance-wise, he's identical to the original Ralph, however his skin tone may be a bit more ashen and his eyes not as bright. He might even have a couple of grey hairs tucked in among the brown ones. Because of everything he's been through during the course of the game, he rarely, if ever, smiles. Underneath the armor, he wears a standard-issue black jumpsuit. Unlike some of the other Space Marines who wear green socks under their armor, Ralph goes barefoot.

His voice is about the same as the first Ralph's, however it's often more on the rough and weary side. Some days he doesn't have much of a voice if he's been yelling out warnings or advice to the other Space Marines.

Since this Ralph is an original member of Hero's Duty, the armor he wears was made for him and fits well. All of the Space Marines customize their armor, and Ralph is no exception. On his right shoulder is a heart with the word "MAMA" over it, because he loves his mama.

Name: “Wreck-It” Ralph

ID Number: 306768

Weapon of Choice: Explosive Launcher

Bio: Ralph originally lived on a forest planet before joining the Space Marines. He enlisted in the Space Marines because he wanted to make sure that his home was kept safe.

He takes his job seriously and will do what he can to protect or avenge his fellow Space Marines during combat. Ralph’s got a bit of a temper and focuses most of his anger towards the Cy-Bugs.

Ralph got the nickname “Wreck-It” due to his choice in weapons and because if he runs out of ammo, often he’ll just take to punching out Cy-Bugs because he can do more damage that way than with the standard-issue pistol.

He favors the Explosive Launcher, which is slow, but powerful, just like him.
